My 7th birthday party (me me me day). Heilbronn, Germany. Fellow friends from my First Grade Class. I'm in deep thought (standing far corner of table, staring at nothing), and my dad musta felt it was something he wanted to capture on film. Ha, thank you Dad. Anyways... I remember while living here, on Xmas eve, waiting up all night and morning hidden in the hallway hoping to get a glance of Santa Claus putting our presents under the tree. I waited and waited, even checked to make sure the door was unlock about 5 times. Even tipped toed back to my bedroom window a few times to look out the window hoping to see "him" bringing presents to the other houses (cause I thought that was what he was doing this long), I remember watching all the snow flakes steadily falling, but no Santa yet ...tree lights blinking off and on, off and on, waiting and waiting, till the morning sun came up, and ....hell no, he never showed up. I would eventually learn why Santa never showed up... that Santa concept can be a cruel concept for some of us that young. I guess what I enjoyed most living in Germany, was all the cherry trees everywhere, and all over the place just outside where I lived. I would climb a cherry tree and munch away, yellow or red cherries. To me that was hog heaven and I was in my glory, all by myself. Yes I was.
